Sarus
- an overview.
Platts Sarus is designed for
use with the Platts FTP Dispatch data feed and is a complete suite
of database management and graphic analysis tools for the professional
trader. It is designed to be intuitive to use and allow market data
to be easily manipulated and used in in-house applications providing
energy information solutions for both front and back office requirements.
Platts Sarus is designed to
work as a stand-alone or networked solution. In a networked environment,
only one PC needs an Internet connection to retrieve the data and
any other Sarus terminal can then access this. The communications
software utilizes your existing Internet connection and supports
access through both firewalls and proxy servers.
The Standard package includes:-
Charting
Easy to use statistical charting package with formulae such as simple
spreads, crack spreads, ratios etc with automatic conversion to
the correct unit of measurement. Sarus includes a comprehensive
range of technical studies that can be applied to any series in
a chart.
Database
You can select from a historical database containing Platts complete
inventory of commodity and petroleum, metals and petrochemical price
assessments together with exchange and foreign exchange quotes.
Corrections received are also stored in a separate database than
can be viewed and searched. This provides an audit trail for each
price correction.
Multi-Scheduling
The new Platts Sarus scheduler makes it easy to create multiple
scheduled downloads from the Internet so that your price and corrections
databases are updated immediately a market center is closed.
Automatic Updates
The new Sarus FTP communications program can be configured to automatically
download new assessments and program files from the Sarus FTP site.
Users are notified of any new assessments or program files and are
advised before any software is updated.
Microsoft Excel Add-in
We supply an Excel add-in that integrates into Excel and allows complete control over all the price data in the Sarus database.
Using the add-in, you can easily create
spreadsheets using any number of historical price series
(in any frequency) from
the Platts Sarus database. These sheets can then be automatically
updated by Excel.
The
Enterprise package includes:-
Programmers
Toolkit
A programmers API is available to allow you to easily develop your
own solutions by hooking straight into the price and corrections
database without your programmers having to worry about storing
prices, corrections and performing FTP downloads. You can program
in Excel Java, C++, Visual Basic, Inprise Delphi etc. Examples in VBA can be supplied.
SQL Link
You can now use the Platts Sarus to automatically update your in-house
SQL database with prices and corrections.

Hardware Requirements:-
Platts Sarus requires a PC running Microsoft Windows versions 2000 or later with an Internet connection and at least one gigabyte of free disk space.
Microsoft Excel should be installed if you wish to use the Platts Sarus Excel add-in.
